Nandankanan Zoological Park



                               A unique zoo set inside a forest, Nandankanan Zoological Park was established in 1960. It is a fascinating sanctuary built to ensure that the flora and fauna thrive in a protected region in their natural habitat. It is the first zoo in the world to have successfully bred Melanistic and White Tigers.

Nandan Kanan National Park is situated 20 Km from Bhubaneswar, capital city of Odisha, India. The name Nandan Kanan means Garden of Pleasure, which gets justified when one enters the park. Along the banks of Lake Kanjia and amidst natural forest, is located. The Zoo has earned International Reputation for breeding of white royal Bengal tiger in captivity and has two separate safaris for Lions and Tigers. There is a Botanical Garden on the northern side of the zoological park overlooking the Kanjia Lake which is a resort of delight for the boating lover. Elepahant Ride, toy train and ropeway amusements are also available in the Park.

  Mysteries of Jagannath Temple that defy scientific logic Puri’s famous Jagannath Temple holds a prominent place of importance for devotees. It is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites in India, and is also well-known for the annual chariot  festival  or Rath Yatra.  Sri Baladevjew Temple T he present shrine of Siddha Baladeva Jew was constructed during the Maratha rule in Odisha (1761 AD) of Ichhapur (Kendrapara). It was constructed by the king of Kujanga, Raja Gopal Sandha and Zamindar (landlord) of Chhedara killah, Srinivas Narendra Mahapatra. One saint (Santha) Gopi Das and Sairatak Giri convinced the then Maratha Chief Janoji and constructed the Jagamohan, Bhoga Mandapa of the main temple, temple of Gundicha and compound wall. It is believed that Khan-I-Duran, the subedar of Odisha during the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb demolished the temple in 1661 and built a mosque on the remains of the temple.
